Ether/Orbit – Roberta Fidora – @robertafidora https://robertafidora.bandcamp.com/album/ether-orbit – The fedi’s favourite popstress (copyright Smash Hits 1987) gets conceptual with two long form post-rocky tracks about the British Black Arrow rocket and its payload the Prospero satellite. An engrossing documentary about the role of female engineers in the UK space race of the 60s and the Isle of Wight’s part in it.
Retrophonica – Aetheric Transmissions – Various Artists – https://wormholeworld.bandcamp.com/album/retrophonica-aetheric-transmissions – compilation tribute to Delia Derbyshire from Wormhole World with another Roberta Fidora track to start it off. A great snapshot of the UK electronic scene in 2020.
Through Lands of Ghosts – Foster Neville – https://subexoticrecords.bandcamp.com/album/through-lands-of-ghosts – a hauntological tour of Britain inspired by the ‘In Search of…’ books of H.V. Morton. That familiar unfamiliar pagan landscape just below the modern world; empty churches, silent villages and mist drifting across land and sea-scapes.
